TDS ON PROPERTY PURCHASE BY RESIDENTS : REQUIREMENTS FOR TDS PAYMENT
TDS is mandatorily required to be paid on purchase of immovable property from the RESIDENT if value of such property is more than Rs. 50,00,000/-
- TDS RATE : 1% ON THE AGREEMENT VALUE OR STAMP DUTY VALUE whichever is Higher.
- This provison is applicable only if the seller is RESIDENT in India. If seller is NRI, this provison is not applicable.
- TAN is not required.
- Due Date : The due date of payment of TDS on transfer of immovable property is 30 days from end of the month in which the deduction is made.
- If Seller's PAN is NOT LINKED with his/her Aadhaar at the time of payment, TDS @ 20% should be paid instead of 1%.
